Demo Reel 2011
A new demo reel for 2011! This one includes work I've done at SuperVillain Studios, animation from an independent side project (Tower Wars), and some personal work set to a sound clip from The Big Lebowski. Thanks for watching!
A shot breakdown is below.
A shot breakdown is below.
Shielder - Death Animation
A low quality preview render of a death animation I just finished. I'll swap it out with a better quality one and add in some sound too once the sound guy finishes. In the game the flapping, floating shielding unit behind the character will be sparking and smoking, like it's shorting out, as it carries her lifeless body away!
General Insurance TV Spot
I animated a commercial! Now, these commercials were kind of notorious for having not very good animation so I tried really hard to inject some quality where I could. Unfortunately, The General was rigged in Biped which is just not a very good rig, so I did the best I could in the very short period of time I had. The studio wound up switching to motion capture shortly after this so I wouldn't wind up getting a chance to do another one.
Anyway, I did all the animation on The General except for the scenes with the bus. I watched and watched for it on TV but only ever saw the last 2 seconds once onSyFy The Sci-Fi Channel. A couple of my friends said they saw it though, and I believed them.

Check out the animation test after the jump.
In a lot of ways I actually like the way this test turned out better than the final commercial spot. I think the main reason for that was because I was able to work with the final audio for this shot from the beginning. On the commercial I had to first animate to temp audio with a temp voice actor and then swap in final audio later read by a different voice actor. I feel like I might have made different acting choices if I had known from the beginning how the final lines were going to be delivered. Still, in the end I was pretty happy with how the whole thing turned out given how short the turnaround was.
Walter WIP
My first attempt at 3D lip sync using Peter Starostin's free Max rig. I let my love of the Big Lebowski cloud my judgment in sound clip selection. Too many F-bombs make this scene not worth finishing since I could never really show it to anyone. Oh well, kind of fun exercise anyway.
Demo Reel 2010
My latest demo reel! It basically consists of bits and pieces of all the previously posted clips. Now you
don't have to wear out your finger scrolling up and down the page all day long!
Order Up! Character Select and Intro Sequence
This is basically the way Order Up! starts. I concepted and storyboarded the sequence and assets
and did all the animation.
p.s. I also made the bag of "Enlarged Po'Tates" in the foreground.
Female Player Character from Order Up!
Here we have another example of the "Unnerving Frozen-Face" disorder, a result of rendering in 3ds Max where the game materials don't function correctly.
That aside, these are the fidget animations that I did for the player character. I also created her character concept.

Assistant Chefs Dance Party
If there's a way to make a clown creepier than having a static, lifeless face then I haven't found it.
What's going on here is that these models are all game assets and their faces only animated in the
game's engine. During gameplay all the chefs had hand keyed 2D lip sync and actually turned
out pretty cool!
Anyway, here's some fidget animations I did for Order Up! on the Wii. I also did all three character
concepts.
Bruce
Various run cycles for an old, old in-house project pitch. Not terribly exciting or very good, guess I'll go take a nap.
Dungeon Siege: PSP 2D cutscenes
Ok, a little background on these. All the basic art was done by my art director, Chris Glenn. I then
put them into 3ds Max and started moving things all over the place! The goal was just to provide
something of visual interest while a voiceover delivered a long, long, long narration about some
nonsense involving Dungeons, and Sieging.
Hostile Robot
Oh no, the robot got set to "Furious" again. I told you to quit messing with the buttons!
I did the concept, model, texture, rig and animation on this one. It's super old.
Grumps the Zombie
This zombie has a hard time making friends. The causes for this are many but reason #1? Bad breath.
